Year 6 Maricourt Festival Winners
Year 6 were well deserved winners of the 3rd annual Maricourt Top Link Sports Festival. The boys and girls took part in four football matches, four games of tag rugby and four hockey matches on a glorious afternoon at Maricourt High School. They really did work well in their four teams with boys and girls playing together. Mr Durham from Maricourt PE department was delighted with all the teams and congratulated the St John Bosco children on their achievement. This is the second time that our year 6 children have won the competition. Well done everyone you can have all next week off school as a reward.

Year 6 Fund Raising
We have been raising money for the Good Shepherd by organising raffles, selling cakes, naming the Teddy and playing Beat the Goalie.
Liverpool Echo Shield
The boys in year 6 played against Holy Rosary in the second round of the Echo Shield last night, 1st March. They really played well as a team and gave Holy Rosary a difficult game. Holy Rosary were just a bit too strong and won the game 4:1 however the goal of the match came from St John Bosco with a fantastic team effort and a great lob by John. Well done boys and thanks parents for some great and very sporting support. It really makes all the difference. Year 6 cup here we come.
The girls football team played in the year 6 cup on Thursday and won the game 5-0. They played against St Andrews from Maghull and put on a fantastic performance. Issy F scored all five goals but it really was a great team effort.

Anthony, Luke and Jason Raffle for Charity
Anthony, Luke and Jason asked if they could have a raffle for Radio City Toy Appeal for children in the North West who will not be receiving gifts this year. They collected over £90 and Mrs Greenwood used some school funds to round it up to £100. They then went and bought all these wonderful gifts and Anthony's mum took them to Radio City. Well done boys what a lovely thing to do for children less fortunate than you are. Look how proud they are. Fantastic.
Year 6 Represent Sefton at The School Travel Plan Review on Friday 17th November at the Eco Centre in Southport
Well done to our children. You were fantastic. I am so proud of you. Read a report and pictures below.

On Friday 17th November me, Isabel, Molly, Abbie, Amy, Siobhan, Liam, Luke and John went to Southport Eco Centre to talk about our school travel plan. Mr MacAreavy drove us to the Eco Centre in a mini-bus. When we arrived Mr MacAreavy signed us in and we entered the room. There was a lot of chairs in front of a big screen. We were then offered a drink and a biscuit and took our seat and the presentation began. Darren Lloyd introduced the staff working and the other people doing presentations. I found the presentations quite interesting and found out that all schools must have a travel plan by 2010. After a handful of presentations there was another break (we got another biscuit and drink) and we then found out that our presentation was next. We took our places and Mr MacAreavy told the people about our travel plan. We then had our new song to sing, I was quite nervous but excited at the same time. It was soon the end of all the presentations and time for lunch. The food hadn’t arrived so we went to the corridor and played on the eco-games. We saw the food coming through so we offered to help them take it into the room we were to eat in. There were sandwiches, sausage rolls, quiche, crisps, pretzels, and then lots of fruit and cakes for dessert. Everyone went up to get some food while we all crowded around the fruit. After going up for more we all said thank-you and piled back into the mini-bus again. We were all sorry the day had come to an end.
Report by Megan Smith

It all started when we arrived at the Eco Centre, on Friday the 17th of November 2006, me and eight other children. As we walked along the long corridor on our right was lots of games on the wall that you could play with. At the end of the corridor was a big room.
We all walked in the room and there was lot’s of chairs in long rows, in front of a big screen. We didn’t sit down but we went and got a drink of water and a biscuit each. Once we had finished we sat down.
Darren Lloyd stood up and spoke about who was there and what the whole thing was about. It was about the Travel Plan and the people who were there were lots of head teachers including Sister Mary Teresa from Maricourt. People stood up and gave us a presentation each, after the break at half past ten then sir stood up and spoke. Then it was my turn along with three other children. Then we all got up and sang our schools song whilst sir played the guitar .After that some other people got up and spoke, then at half past twelve the food came and everyone had something to eat. The food was great. Once we had finished everybody said we acted like young adults. Then we walked along the big corridor and got on the minibus and headed back for school. It was a great day.

It all started when we came in on Friday the 17th
of September at twenty past eight and set off at half past eight. When we arrived at the Eco Centre we were greeted by people, when we finally got to a room, two people were standing there. They gave Sir a badge to wear and then we walked in. Soon we noticed that we were the only children there though we were treated like grown – ups. We were offered biscuits and a drink.
Many adults said that we were so quiet they actually thought we were young adults. People went up to do their school travel plan until the break. Then we went to get another drink and biscuit. People started talking to us and saying that they couldn’t wait to see our travel plan. After the break it was our turn, we got up Luke, Isabel, John and Siobhan went up with Sir and said their speech. Then me Megan, Liam, Abigail and Amy and the others got up and sang our new song. At the end they all applauded then a few others went up and said more about the day.
Then it was lunch we got a drink and then helped the people with the buffet. The buffet was very healthy with lots of fruit. There was a range of sandwiches with a healthy topping. There were lots of tropical fruits other things had herbs in them. Sir took photographs of our food and the buffet. He said we were very healthy children.
After lunch we packed up and left for the school. And that was our day at the
