RE
Special People
The children will be able to identify people who are special to them and their families and explain why they are special. They will be able to describe how the Church family remembers and celebrates jesus. They will be able to retell the Gospel stories of Jesus’ early life that they have explored.
Meals
The children will recognise and describe special occasions and special food eaten. They will know that the parish family gathers for the Eucharist, a special meal, and that people receive Jesus in Holy Communion. They will be able to retell, in their own words, the story of the Last Supper and recall words or phrases from the Eucharist Prayer explored.
Good and Evil
The children will be able to describe good and bad responses to different situations. They will know that Lent is a time to turn to the good and work at being more like Jesus. They will be able to identify good and bad in the stories of the Crucifixion. They will be able to explain how people show respect for the cross and know that God his Father gave Jesus new life at Easter
We will be looking at health and growth where we will identify some types of food that make up a healthy diet, observe differences between babies and toddlers and recognise that care should be taken with medicines. We will also look at forces and movement where we will look at how to make objects speed up/slow down and change direction. We will also plan a fair test and present results in a chart.
Exploring ideas about shape and pattern. Making prints based on patterns in buildings. Working with others to develop a relief panel and saying what they think and feel about their own and others’ work.
DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY
We will be looking at how simple vehicles move and will move on to designing and making our own-wheeled vehicle.
Children learn about the workings of the eye and find out how young people are fitted with spectacles in their local area and in other parts of the globe, in particular in Africa..
Questions and Answers: children develop their awareness of different types of questions, how they can be asked and how ICT can be used to answer them using different types of software. They learn that some of the programs they have used so far to present data cannot provide the answers to some specific questions. They begin to realise that programs have limitations and that it is knowledge of the facilities and tools offered that helps us to select the most appropriate tool for a task
The children will have the opportunity to explore how sounds can be changed, combined and organised to create a class composition. They respond to stimuli suggested by the weather and explore ways in which sounds can be used expressively. They record their compositions using pictures, symbols and words
