Language/Literacy :
In Literacy this term we will be concentrating on stories about fantasy worlds, poems with predictable structures and similar themes.
Information texts including recounts of observations, visits and events.
We will also continuing with our Letters and Sounds Programme. We will complete Phase Three and hope to complete Phase Four by the end of the term.
Numeracy:
In Numeracy we will be doing: – place value and ordering; understanding + and - ; money and real life problems; reasoning about shapes and handling data.
Science:
In Science we will cover two topics. (1) The “Sounds and Hearing” topic will develop the childrens’ understanding of the variety of sounds and sources of sound.
The “Growing Plants” topic introduces the children to the idea of plants as living things which grow and change.
History (1st half)
The History topic is “What were seaside holidays like in the past?”
The children will compare sea-side holidays in the recent past with those long ago.
Geography (2nd half)
The Geography topic is “How can we make our local area safer?”
In this topic the children will investigate a local issue common to most schools. E.g. parking.
Art:
In Art the topic for this term will be “Mother Nature”. In this topic the children will explore line, shape, colour, and texture in natural forms.
I.C.T.:
In I.C.T. the topic for this term is “Understanding Instruction”. In this topic the children will learn how to give and follow instructions to make things happen.
P.E.:
The topics for PE this term are Games/ Athletics. The children will be developing their skills in running, jumping and hopping. In the second half of the term they will be developing their skill in striking through cricket.
D.T.:
In Design and Technology this term our topic is “Eat more fruit and Vegetables”. In this topic the children will develop an understanding of designing and making a fruit salad and the importance of healthy eating.
Music:
Our Music topics are the BBC Music Box “Duck and Seagull” and “Feel the Pulse”. Feel the Pulse will help to develop the childrens’ ability to recognise the difference between pulse and rhythm.
PHSE:
This term we will be looking at medicines and drugs and their safety.
R.E.:
The three topics in RE this term are Holidays and Holy Days, Building Bridges, and Differences. We will also be learning about the Jewish Faith.

Holidays and Holydays
The children will be thinking about holidays as days to be happy, and Pentecost, a holyday, the feast of the Holy Spirit.
Building Bridges
We will be discussing how friends can fall out and then be friends again. We will also learn about Jesus helping his friends to get on well together.
Differences
We will be looking at how everyone is different in the class. That God makes each person different and that we should appreciate that we are not the same. We will celebrate “I am me”.
