Our Work

Welcome to Year 2 Class.

Our Infant Celebration will be on

Wednesday, 30th June 2010 at 2.40 pm

Our Day of Dance Workshop

Well Done to Emily Maloney for winning the Eco Award.  She won the colouring competition, 'show you care, be environmentally aware'

She was awarded her prize from Jessica Smith, Range High School, Formby.

We had a fantastic time at Legoland.

We have been exploring our outdoor environment looking for plants and animals.  We used our 'bug explorer' to study what we found.

We have been using clay to create a 'school mural' with panels of patterns we see around our school.

Year 2 had an 'eggciting' time decorating eggs for Easter.  They showed them off to the school in an 'Easter Eggsibition'.

World Book Day

The children enjoyed coming to school dressed as their favourite book character.

Can you guess who they are?

As part of our music unit we have been performing a group composition about 'seasons'.

As part of our 'Global Eye' work we have been learning about different parts of the eye.  We used mirrors to test what happens to our pupils when we switched our lights on and off.

Well done Year 2 and thank you to our families for sharing our 'Meals' class celebration.

We have been exploring our outdoor toys as part of our forces and movement topic looking at 'faster' and 'slower'.

Year 2 have been outdoors exploring our environment to write stories based on a 'woodland' setting.

We have been learning about Forces and Movement.  We investigated how to make cars speed up, slow down or change direction.

We had a wonderful time at our Christmas Party.  We wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

We finished our study of the island of Coll by

creating a giant floor map showing all of the

houses, shops, transport, lochs and beaches.

Numeracy through Football

All of our children had a great time learning numeracy

through football.

We have been writing instructions this week.  We wrote and followed our own instructions to make a jam sandwich.

Ask me to do it at home!!

The Country Dancers from Year 1 and Year 2 performed three dances, 'Pat a Cake Polka', 'Elsden Circle Dance' and 'Durham Reel' for their families on Tuesday.

Well done everybody!

We have been continuing with our Science topic and investigating what happens to chocolate when it is heated..... What a treat for us!!

For our Science work 'Materials' we heated bread, potatoes, carrots and eggs and looked at irreversible changes.

We have been learning about Florence Nightingale.  We role-played a hospital today and compared the difference.

We have been using 'Friendship Circles' to discuss what we have learnt.

Our Year 2 Reading Club started last week.  Please come and join us.

8.25 - 8.45 am, every Wednesday.

We have been learning about the author Martin Waddell.  We have enjoyed reading 'The Hidden House' and 'Little Mo'.  We have been actors and narrators and performed 'Little Mo' in our gazebo 'stage'.
