Year 3 have been taking part in a Food project designed to let children take an active interest in how food grows.

B & Q kindly donated a tomato plant for each child.

We hope to have lots of tomatoes growing later in the year.

We have been looking at and creating patterns.

We have been testing the strength of different magnets as part of our work on magnets and springs.

Year 3 Play a great friendly against St George's Primary School

Here are the fantastic year 3 footballers. Girls and boys together. Great to see.

The match kicked off. Everyone was excited there was strong tackling and good passing and then ...... Josh passed the ball to Joe and then GOAL!!!!!!   so they kicked off and it went to a goal kick. So the goalie passed it but sneaky Joe scored a goal again. Unbelievably Joe scored once more so he has his hat trick. Will Mr MacAreavy let him keep the ball hmmmmm We wonder. Second half. We got the ball and then it went out for a corner. Josh took the corner and GOAL it was  4 :0 . Another corner happened but this time Jordan took it. It hit a defender and went in the net so then it was 5:0. Then they caught us on the break and Michael tried but he hit it so hard they scored. Final score 5:1   Match report by Josh McCabe and Ellie Doyle

Parents Evening

We have finished our sculptures and here they are displayed in the playground.  The Infants visited our exhibition and asked us some very interesting questions about our work.

Sculptures

Year 3 have been making sculptures from recycled materials.

They look as if they are having a 'creative' time, don't they?

Investigating Materials

How stretchy are our tights?

A scientific investigation into the stretchiness of tights.

We had fun at our Christmas Party!

Year 3 have been having a lovely time making Christmas cards and decorating the classroom during Advent.

(Thank you to the Friends of St John Bosco

for providing us with the Art and Craft materials)

Carol Concert 2007

Well done to all the singers, musicians and actors who took part in this years carol concert. The church was packed as usual and this time we were treated to a special rendition of Jingle Bells by our fantastic violin group. I do hope that you have a very happy and Holy Christmas. Here are a few pictures from the concert.

An archaeologist from Liverpool University Outreach Department visited Year 3 on 26th November 2007.  She brought an interesting collection of Roman artefacts and we all learned a lot about the Romans.

Friday Football Friendlies

On Friday we played another two matches against St George's. They were both fantastic and very close. This time honours went to St George's with 1:0 and 2:0 wins. Here are the teams. Well done.

Terrific Tuesday

What a great effort from the footballers in year 3 and year 4. We all went in a mini bus to play against St George's. The football was fantastic and their attitude was first class. Well done to everyone and a big thanks to our army of supporters. The way you encourage your children sets an excellent example. Thank you. Two more games have been organised for this Friday at home. I can't wait. Here are a few pictures from the evening. Well done to captains Tom and Paul.

Fantastic Football Friday

The boys in years 3 and 4 had a great game. Here are a few pictures for you.

Father Smith came to help us with our class celebration 'Signs and Symbols'.

Food Technology

We tasted different kinds of bread so that we could decide which would make the best sandwich.
