Leavers Mass
An excellent and emotional celebration. Well Done everyone and a big thank you to parents and family for attending.
We will miss you Year 6!
Year 6 Hit The Jackpot
We all had a lovely leavers mass today, Thursday 16th July, and we shared our great memories of our time at St John Bosco School. We then went to play with our chummies in the reception and took some pictures for them to remember us by. We were all very proud of our class effort in the year 6 tests but the most important thing was that we all worked so hard that we each produced our very best effort. This meant that our class achieved the top marks of 100% in all the tests.
Mathematics 100%
English 100%
Science 100%
We are all very proud of our class and here are the pictures taken with our chummies on the day of our leavers mass.
A big thank you to Mr and Mrs Purcell for a very special treat. We had a great time and really enjoyed ourselves.
Year 6 Win Maghull & District Rounders
The children from year 6 won the Maghull and District Rounders competition held at the Northern Club in Crosby today Monday 29th June. They played Aintree Davenhill in a Gripping final and here they all are well done. This must be our most successful sporting year ever and we have had some good ones. Well done boys and girls.
Year 6 structured play with Reception
Thank you to Diane for security marking our bikes and for the safety talk about the importance of wearing helmets.
Fantastic Finch Farm Finals
Yesterday on June 16th our football teams from year 3 and 4 and 6 went to Everton's Academy at Finch Farm. The finals were to celebrate the best teams from all over Sefton and we had 3 teams in them. They sent a double decker bus to take us there. The weather was very hot and we were all very excited. The first final was the year 6 match against Great Crosby who have 3 year 6 classes. It was a tough game but we eventually won with Adam's great right foot shot and fantastic defending. Next two games were the year 3 and year 4 and we had teams in both finals. The teams played fantastic football and year 4 won again with goals from Jordan's right foot and a left foot free kick. The team defended well and Ryan had a great game in goal. The final score was 2: 1 to St John Bosco. Well the year 3 were having a brilliant match and really put the team from Great Crosby under alot of pressure. They hit the bar twice and the ball was cleared off the line 3 times. It was not meant to be and sadly they scored a goal from a corner that bounced off Amelia's arm and hit the post and went in. We all had a great morning and will try again next year except for year 6's. Here are some pictures.
Bike Security Marking Day
The children from year 5 and 6 were invited to bring their bikes to school on Thursday 11th June to have them security marked by the police. Diane Brady came and talked to the children about securing their bikes and then helped to mark them with a security tag.
Indian Dance
Thanks again to our wonderful dance teacher - Naomi, for a taste of Indian Dancing. What a lovely time we had and a nice treat for the last day of term.
Year 6 Boys Romp into Cup Final
The boys from year 6 had a particularly good game of football last night, Tuesday 9th June, when they met Northway Primary School in the semi-final of the Maghull year 6 cup. The boys were captained by Josh Mc Donough who had another determined performance in the left of defence. The boys passed the ball around well and really played some beautiful one touch football. I was very proud and can't wait to tell Mr Merivale tomorrow. The final score was St John Bosco Primary 11 Northway Primary 2. Well done boys. The final will be announced as soon as we have details. Good luck in the Everton Academy Final next Tuesday alongside year 3 and year 4. Wow what a year.
Year 6 and Under Girls Fly into Final
The year 6 and under girls football team made their way into the Maghull finals which will take place after our half term break. Once again they played fantastic passing football with a final score win of 6:0 All the girls were fantastic with a brilliant shot frm Ellie from a great setup by Jess. Emma scored 2 and the ball went home to the Fallons with Sophie scoring a hat trick. Well done girls. Here are a few pictures of the team with a great action shot of Amelia flying through the air.
Year 6 class took part in a whole school celebration about Islam.
We had a great time on Friday afternoon eating sweets and watching a DVD. It was a nice treat following a week of tests and working hard.
WELL DONE to everyone for trying their very best.
Boys Miss Out On Final By Goal Difference
The year 6 boys football team travelled to Liverpool Academy on Monday 18th May to take part in the Annual finals. They played fantastic foorball and were more than a match for the other teams all of which came from large primary schools from all over Merseyside. The boys played 5 games in total with 3 draws and 2 wins. Two of the draws saw the boys winning with a minute to go which was unfortunate. However the final league saw the team level top on points but they missed the final to Farnborough Road by a goal difference of 1. They now look forward to the Maghull year 6 semi final and the Everton Academy finals after half term. Well done to all the boys.
We have been making prayer mats.
We had a great time using our knowledge of shape to carry out some fun and challenging activities in the hall.
A fantastic session today learning some Spanish dancing - Flamenco! Thank you Naomi, we really enjoyed it.
We have enjoyed learning and developing gymnastic skills for PE this term - balancing, turning and rolling.
Year 6 children experienced Carnival dancing and entered into the spirit of it.
Year 6 Boys go through to next round of Liverpool Echo Shield
The year 6 boys football team enjoyed a 2:0 win at Lydiate Primary school on 26th February. Goals from Michael Packwood and Adam Killen ensured that the team will progress into the next round. Well done boys. This really is a great year for all our sports teams. Here they all are after the match.

Year 6 Boys Football Team Make Liverpool Finals
The boys from year 6 have made it through to another set of finals. They are off to the Liverpool Academy in the New Year to take part in the year 6 finals. They were fantastic and Mr Merivale said that it was better than watching his beloved Everton. Well done boys with a 5 nil win in the group final.
Today we enjoyed showing our chummies how to play the games we have designed for them and we all had a great time!
We have been very busy learning and practising skills to carry out lunchtime structured play activities with our chummies. Soon we will be able to show and play some new games with them which we have designed ourselves. We are really looking forward to this and spending some special time with Reception.
