Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome to our new school website.

St John Bosco Catholic Primary School has always been a particularly good school with hardworking, committed and fun loving staff.  We place great importance on the personal skills of all within the school including our Governing Board and are fully inclusive and imaginative in our teaching methods. Our newly developed curriculum starts in the reception class and carefully planned and sequenced lessons build on prior learning as well as revisiting previous learning to ensure that children remember as much as they can. We are all excited as we continue to develop our rich child focused curriculum.

We use a wide variety of teaching strategies to offer a broad and balanced curriculum, underpinned by state-of-the-art IT facilities which we continue to develop and support the teaching of the arts, sports and basic core skills as well as modern foreign languages, citizenship and community values.  Not forgetting an endless number of sports and after school activities. Our outdoor facilities are simply amazing and our children enjoy them to the full.

We offer breakfast facilities and a wide range of after school activities including sport clubs during holiday time based at the school.  We also offer our own after school clubs ST JOHN BOSCO KID-ZONE, which is proving a most popular support for working parents. The afterschool provision has access to all our extensive outdoor facilities and is a great way for children to stay fit and healthy.

We are delighted to welcome you and your child to our school as prospective members of a community where the Gospel values of the Catholic faith underpin our efforts to provide a quality education for all.

Visitors to our school, whether health workers, inspectors, Local Authority officers, parent helpers or others always comment on the wonderful learning atmosphere and beautiful manners that our children have. This underpins the very essence of a "St John Bosco Child."

We are proud of our school with its happy and caring atmosphere and its tradition of hard work, academic achievement, sporting success and community involvement.  We look forward to working with you as a family, welcoming and valuing your contribution to the education of your child as well as offering you the very best of our professional skills and expertise along with a high quality of pastoral support and care.

We are a growing family school and it is our aim that you get to know our routines and us quickly. Every member of staff, teaching and non-teaching, is more than happy to help you in any way possible.  Please be confident to ask any of us for help if you have concerns, even if they seem trivial.  No problems are either too big or too small for us to tackle together - please ask.

On behalf of the Governors, staff and myself, I am pleased to welcome you to St John Bosco Catholic Primary School. If you have a few minutes you may enjoy the four short videos that give a real sense of what we can offer your child. Simply go to "Our School" and select "Welcome Videos." We hope you enjoy them as much as we did making them.

    Children's Garden Refurb Completion

    Dear Parents and Carers
Next Thursday 2nd May after school I am asking for anyone who can spare an hour or more so that we can complete the children's new garden area and get them growing their vegetables and flowers. I have arranged for a skip to be delivered, as well as crush & run and bonding stone to create an attractive area for the children to walk on. Much of the work has already been done and all I really need is as much muscle as possible to remove the rotten timbers and general rubbish and then to transport the stone and top dressing over to the garden area where it will be levelled using a whacker plate. We have three wheel barrows and few spades already, if you are able to help in anyway, the plan is to start after the boys football match at 5.00pm and go until we complete it. I appreciate many of us are busy but hope that enough of us will be able to get this job done which will then need little or no attention for several years to come, whilst giving our children endless hours of enjoyment.
    Yours sincerely
