We had such an enjoyable sports day.  We were very proud of all the children.

Our WOW science lesson.

The children have worked so hard making their many different habitats.  Thank you all for supporting them during this task.

Just putting the finishing touches to our flower garden before judging day.

The children released our butterflies today and enjoyed watching them fly away.

We took advantage of the lovely weather this afternoon and explored some micro-habitats.

We were very proud of our children today during our trip to the Blue Planet Aquarium.  Their behaviour and participation was amazing and were a credit to school as well as their parents.  They answered all the questions during our classroom session and also asked some in-depth, sensible questions.

Well done Year 2!

We have had such fun learning our 2 times table this week. We have worked as a team to race against each other to find out which team was the fastest to complete their 2 times table.

We started looking at arrays this morning.  The children were given a challenge to make their own arrays for a given multiplication fact.

During our science lesson we have been investigating seeds to find the answer to,

'How many seeds do different fruits have and why?'

The children enjoyed their trip to church and the Abbey this morning. They discussed the stations of the cross and thought of lots of interesting words for their work on settings.

We have been looking at the properties of 2D shapes.  The children worked well in their teams to support each other to find the 2D shapes that matched the criteria given.

The children have been using Numicon to investigate what type of numbers you get if you add:

an even number and an even number together,
an odd number and an odd number together and
an odd number and an even number together.

We are all enjoying our new book, ‘Simon Sock’. The children were able to sequence the story today, ready for their story maps.

The children had a great first day back after lockdown.  They were all very good at constructing their own 3D shapes.

The children enjoyed sorting 2D shapes into different groups.

The children were very adventurous today playing with LEGO. They thought that they were playing, but in fact they were developing their fine motor skills, social, collaboration, communication and language skills, spatial, engineering, problem solving and creativity skills.

We looked at the different food groups today during our Science lesson.  The children sorted the foods into groups first, then we discussed how we could group the foods into carbohydrates, fruits and vegetables, proteins, dairy and fats and sugars.  They enjoyed tasting all the different foods, especially the foods they had not tried before.

This afternoon the children enjoyed learning about Chinese New Year and made some related crafts.

The children made fairy cakes today.  Tomorrow they will be writing a set of instructions on how to make fairy cakes.  Watch out Mr Kipling, they were delicious!

We have been measuring different objects today using a metre ruler.

We enjoyed learning all about the life cycle of a frog today.  We made our own booklets and our scientist was very knowledgeable and answered many questions from the class and his teacher.

Our class is oozing with talent. We enjoyed watching the children perform in our Year 2 Bosco's Got Talent competition. We were so proud of them all. Well done!

Our Christmas Party.  We enjoyed playing the different party games.

Can you guess what we are making?

Our little elves have been busy making Christmas decorations.

Enjoying our delicious Christmas dinner.

During our science lesson this week, the children were given the task to find out which paper was the strongest. We discussed what a fair test was and what we needed to do to make our test a fair test.  We used the data we collected to answer questions.

We have been investigating the process of making paper and why we shouldn't waste it.  We discussed deforestation and were very shocked to learn that 4 billion trees are cut down each year, which is equivalent to 7600 trees per minute.  We finally thought about and made suggestions on how to stop deforestation.

When we returned to class after our investigation, our professor for the day asked the class to think of other uses for waterproof materials.  He also answered questions from the children.

We had a letter from King Charles II this week asking us to find a waterproof material to make a bucket.  The children were able to give a definition of waterproof and used their observational skills to note down their findings.

We have been looking at column addition this week in class.  We used our base 10 equipment to help us understand when we needed to exchange 10 ones for one ten.

During our science lesson this week the children investigated which materials could change shape by twisting, squashing, bending and stretching.  They also discussed whether it was a good thing or a bad thing that some materials cannot change shape.  What do you think?

We went to have a look at Year 6's Anderson Shelters.  The children enjoyed talking about them and looking at all the different designs.  We gave Year 6 the thumbs up.  They were GREAT!

During our RE lesson this afternoon, we have sequenced a baptism and have made our own Baptism booklets.  We discussed the signs and symbols involved during this sacrament.

Year 2 have been learning about signs and symbols and the importance of them.

Today we have been looking at programs and algorithms.  We have used a QR code to open Seesaw and have added and edited a file.

We have been discussing more properties today.  We had to use our property knowledge to guess what was in the sack by using our scientific language.

During our science lesson this week, we have been looking at the properties -  transparent, translucent and opaque.

We have been learning about how to write a program using Scratch.  We looked at the different coding blocks and discussed what they were used for.

We went for a walk around the school grounds to see how many different materials we could find.
