Monday update

Dear Parents and Carers
I do hope that you continue to stay safe and well.  The school plans to welcome any reception, year 1 and year 6 children to return to school on Monday 15th June and unless we receive other instructions it is our intention to do this.  I shall not bother you with unnecessary detail this week as their maybe some further movement with regard to government guidelines.  It is our intention to follow the plans that we sent out to you earlier in May and I would like to thank you for your many positive and kind comments that have told us how you have felt with regards to being reassured that we will only welcome children back when we feel it is safe to do so.  We are most fortunate in that the design of our school building helps us to keep class groups apart, however, social distancing for young children is impossible.  Therefore we must focus on the things we can do which is primarily good hand washing hygiene and keeping the number of items that you touch to a minimum.  These simple but effective elements will underpin safety in school when children return.  As I have previously said I appreciate that parents have varied views on the safe return to school and that regardless of your decision you will always be part of our school family and we all have a right for our decisions to be respected at this difficult time.  I feel confident that we have done everything to make our school as safe as possible and I know that the exemplary behaviour that our children display will be a great help.  As yet I do not know when primary schools in Sefton will be instructed to welcome back children in years 2,3,4 & 5, but will inform you as soon as I know.  I will send a reminder to you all next week to outline the procedures and protocol if your child is in reception, year 1 or year 6 and you are intending for them to return to school on Monday 15th June.

Thank you once again for your kind comments of support and I hope you continue to feel reassured as we work together to return our children to the school they love.

Yours sincerely

Mr D MacAreavy - Headteacher
