Friday Update

6 November 2020 (by stjohnb)

Dear Parents and Carers

As I write this the school is eerily quiet however the blue sky and final autumn leaves that are falling are reminding me just how much I have missed the children and how much I am looking forward to seeing them all on Monday at 8.45am.  This will be a very short message to you all but rest assured my thanks go to you all for supporting us through this week.  The good news is that your children's school is super clean and looks amazing.  All the teachers are fit and well and can't wait to get back into the classrooms.  Many local schools continue to fall foul of this cruel virus however I am hopeful that the measure that we have put in place will allow us to enjoy an uninterrupted run up to Christmas.  Lockdown will be difficult for many and I am aware that some of you are experiencing particularly difficult personal experiences.  You are constantly in my thoughts and I pray alongside Fr Grant that our responsible behaviour will keep the impact of this pandemic to an absolute minimum.

Our school food bank is here for anyone in our school family or friends and neighbours that you know of who could benefit.   Please drop me an email and I shall be as discreet as I possibly can.

All activities will resume on Monday as normal.  Your child's PE days and after school activity will remain the same with one exception.  Swimming will now be enjoyed by Year 5 so Wednesday will be their PE day with their after school club of circuit and cardio training taking place with Sam after school on Wednesday.  To accommodate this Year 6 will now swap their PE day to Tuesday and their after school club of Tag Rugby will take place with Sam on this day.  Please keep to the same pick up arrangements and do not go onto the junior playground for any reason all clubs will finish at 4.15pm.

You shall receive a Parents Evening Letter on Monday and I would be grateful if you would return it to your class teacher the following day.

I would like to thank those of you who have sent messages of support to me and our school and I shall continue to do the best that I can to provide a happy and high quality learning experience for your children.  As ever your support in your child's education is valued and an integral part of how they will progress and achieve particularly during these difficult times.

May I respectfully remind you earrings will not be considered part of school uniform and should not be worn.  This is to comply with our governors health and safety policy.  I must also inform you that we are not allowed to remove earrings.  If a child attended school with earrings we would have to contact you to return to school to remove them which is clearly something I would rather avoid.

We have, however, much to celebrate and I shall certainly be celebrating welcoming our amazing children on Monday. I hope you have an enjoyable weekend and thank you for your continued support.

Yours sincerely

Mr D MacAreavy - Headteacher
