Dear Parents and Carers

Yet another wonderfully industrious week comes to a close.  The children have worked so hard this week and their attitude to their learning has been exemplary.  This was commented on by the school nurse team who administered the flu immunisation to our children on Tuesday morning.  The children were indeed extremely sensible, polite and well mannered and I was so proud of them as I know visitors leave our school and talk to others about the wonderful experience they had.  This is also true of our fantastic year 4 class and imagine how Miss Rogers feels when their violin teacher describes them as simply brilliant and that they are one of, if not the most enjoyable class that she can remember throughout Sefton.

Thank you for your comments about how Christmassy our school looks and especially the entrance to our reception children's play area.  It is important to me that the children see that we make an effort for them as we in turn ask them to work hard and behave well both in and outside of school.

You may have noticed members of Merseyside Police patrolling on Monday and Tuesday mornings and feedback from them was generally good although issues still remain around dangerous what I can only describe as self abandoning of vehicles on double yellow lines which are clearly road markings designed simply to keep our children safe.  I have and will continue to politely remind anyone from either school and hope that I simply bore the small number of repeat offenders into submission.  Of course massive thanks to the vast majority of you who support me and our friends in Green Park School in promoting sensible and safe parking.  I would much rather a child was a few minutes late for school than being several hours in a local hospital.

Next week our children will be assessed for their progress during the Autumn term and I know that they enjoy these opportunities to show what they have learned.  Christmas activities have been arranged within classes and we shall do our best to keep the excitement of the build up to Christmas as special an experience as possible.  Christmas Dinner payments accounts on Parentmail are now available for children who do not normally have a hot lunch, please contact Mrs Greenwood if you have any issues.

Can I please remind everyone that our school has a number of children who have a nut allergy and as a result we are a peanut and nut free learning environment.  Please can you insure as much as is possible that your child's snack or lunch does not contain any peanut or nut contents.

There are a number of children who are now wearing our brand new tracksuit and they look very smart but more importantly the children have told me that they like them because they are cosy and keep them warm.

The school promotional video filming was most successful and although designed to help families who are sadly unable to visit our wonderful school will be I am sure enjoyed by all and possibly a lovely uplifting surprise to family members that you are unable to meet or live abroad.  I hope to be able to share these with you towards the end of next week.

I continue to be most grateful for the support and kind words you give to me and the staff.

We shall send out via email our usual parent reply slip which you fill in after parents evenings, these will be sent to you early next week.  Can I ask you to please complete them as it is a valuable way for us to collect important views for any external inspection processes.

I wish you all a happy and peaceful weekend.

Yours sincerely

Mr D MacAreavy - Headteacher
