Update 17.06.22

17 June 2022 (by stjohnb)

Dear Parents and Carers

We have enjoyed a beautiful week of dry sunny weather and the children have certainly enjoyed spending much time in our beautiful outdoor environment.  May I remind you that should the forecast be particularly sunny, that sun cream must be administered at home as we are unable to do this in school and please bring sun hats or caps for outside play.  We are fortunate that there are numerous areas within our school grounds that the children can seek shade.

After school clubs continue to be extremely well attended and I am particularly pleased that we are able to offer so many children enjoyable sports and activities other than football.  We still are looking forward to some competitive cricket tournaments and it is certainly going to be difficult to select a team as there are so many children who are attending and really beginning to play some good cricket.  You will be delighted that this is such a short newsletter and I will finish on a positive note informing you that we received our summer term visit from our School Improvement Partner who spent the whole day in school where he was able to look at all of our wonderful facilities as well as observing working classrooms.  Much of his time was spent reviewing our attainment and future plans for the school and I am delighted that I am able to inform you that he left stating that he feels the school is in an extremely strong and financially healthy position and the continued improvements that we regularly have for our children make St John Bosco School a particularly good one.

May I remind you all that our Summer Bingo takes place tonight.  Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start entrance is via the family room and I hope that as many of you may be able to attend and begin to build up our school fund which we have been unable to add to throughout the past two years.  There will be a bucket for any contributions towards the Marina Dalglish Appeal and I hope you will give some consideration to donating to the particularly worthwhile charity.
May I wish you a happy and peaceful weekend.

Yours sincerely

Mr D MacAreavy - Headteacher
