End of Week Message and Information - Actions for After School Clubs needed

6 September 2024 (by stjohnb)

Dear Parents and Carers

I would just like to keep you up to date with a few items as we prepared for our first full week on Monday 9th September.  The teachers are extremely pleased at how well the children have settled into their classes.  I have been in each class on numerous occasions and have been impressed by how quickly they have all settled and their positive attitude towards their learning.  They really have hit the ground running but more importantly they seem extremely happy which is always a good thing.  The teachers and staff are also extremely happy and this is creating a lovely environment as we begin a new school year.  Next week's focus theme will be 'Beginnings' and how high levels of respect and good manners contribute to a great beginning of a new school year.  This was also the focus of my two assemblies today and I was pleased that the children remembered so many of the values that we promoted throughout the previous year.

What a wonderful way to end the week with the glorious sunshine and a cloudless blue sky.  Can it last? probably not!

Thank you to those who have made sure their children's footwear and clothing have been clearly marked with your child's name so that they can be returned to them quickly and without causing any distress.

A number of children have asked me about attendance at after school clubs next week and I have asked them to remind you to contact the school office so that your details can be taken as well as the contribution payment.  Mr Kane will be taking registers before each club in order to ensure that the children are able to take part throughout the next seven weeks.  A number of competitions have already been organised and I hope that we are able to give a good account of ourselves as we did last year.

Monday will be a special day when we finally welcome all of our new reception children to school.  The group we had for these first three days were simply delightful and their teachers were extremely impressed with their levels of independence as well as their social skills which tends to go against much that we read and see in the press and news.  I hope you have an enjoyable weekend.

Thank you for all your support which is much appreciated.

Kind regards

Mr D MacAreavy
