Pharmacy 1st Information2 September 2025 (by stjohnb) |
Dear St John Bosco Catholic Primary School ,
I hope this message finds you well.
We are reaching out from Community Pharmacy Sefton to share information about the Pharmacy First service, which launched on 31st January 2024. This NHS-funded service recognises the vital role community pharmacies play as the first point of contact for healthcare advice and treatment for common minor illnesses.
What is Pharmacy First?
Pharmacists are now able to provide expert advice and NHS-funded treatment—where clinically appropriate—for seven common conditions affecting many children and families:
Sinusitis
Sore throat
Acute ear infections (otitis media)
Infected insect bites
Impetigo
Shingles
Uncomplicated urinary tract infections in women
By encouraging parents to visit their local pharmacy first, we aim to help reduce pressure on busy GP practices and ensure children and families receive prompt, effective care close to home.

Thank you for supporting Community Pharmacy Sefton in promoting accessible and effective healthcare for our local families.
Warm regards,
Jess Bibby
